Under the current application process, applications should be made through the GP recuitment website. This is Stage 1 and comprises an online factual application form. Eligible candidates will then be invited to Stage 2. This comprises an MCQ followed by a new paper called a "Situational Judgement Test". Based on these results, successful candidates will be shortlisted and will then be invited back to an interview day.
You will also need to use the MTAS website and the MMC website.
For August 2010, we have expanded and appointed 17 new trainees. The whole of GP training is expanding, and for our part we are planning to finally end with an annual intake of 20 trainees. This will untimately give us 60 trainees on the scheme at any one time. All of our rotations are 18 months in hospital posts and 18 months in General Practice.
To see the posts that will be included on current rotations, see the spreadsheet. As we expand, new hospital posts are being added. For instance, in August 2010 we are starting new posts in Oncology, psychiatry and more paediatric posts. In 2011, we will need more hospital posts again and these will be decided and agreed nearer the time. To see more about the scheme, go to the page about the scheme.
The Colchester VTS is in the Eastern Deanery. The Deanery has it's own website.
